Misty was the sweetest dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She loves everyone. She was polite, loving, and a joy to train. I will always love my little girlie girl, and think of her often. Misty shared with me one year of her life, and I gave her everything I could. I trained Misty as an Assistance Dog (with the help of a friend), loved her like one of my own... and then sent her away in one last gift of love. Misty is now a working dog, and has saved her disabled handlers life. The two of them are a joy to see together, each completing the other, and giving each other more than they had on their own. Misty will always be my little "girlie girl", and I will always cherish the time we had together.
Without further ado,
I'd like to introduce:
- My Misty Girl -

July, 2001

Misty was donated to me by a responsible breeder, right from the start she was destined to be an Assistance Dog. I registered Misty with the AKC as "Bent Oak's Mystic Gift of Joy"... and that is truly what she was.

August, 2001

Misty's favorite thing in the world is training/working... but playing is a very close second.

September, 2001

Here's Misty, just being a silly puppy.

Right from the start, Misty seemed to know it was her job to take care of those around her.

October, 2001

Misty's first time experiencing snow!

This pretty girl just loved every second spent in that powdery white stuff.

These three (Misty a smooth Collie, Thunder a retired racing Greyhound, and Nico a Chihuahua) really were the best of friends. It wasn't long after this picture was taken, that Thunder lost his battle with Cancer.

December, 2001

Misty just loved everyone... even her bratty "big" brother.

January, 2002

Here's Misty, playing with another future Service Dog, Shadow. Don't they make a cute pair?

During a three week stay with Laurisa, the director of Prairie Assistance Dogs Inc., Misty had her first taste of being a working dog.
